Maybe because of our extraordinarily long, wet and cold Spring or because I just got back from Europe, I am once again salivating over the thigh high stockings, garters, arm warmers and leggings offered by Sock Dreams in Portland, Oregon. I came across this site thanks to The Black Apple and love revisiting it to secretly gaze over the lovely patterns of wool, cashmere, lace and ribbons. The pin-up photos show cute legs in all shapes and sizes and various positions…very sexy. Additionally, they offer FREE shipping…even SEXIER!

For our annual Halloween party I created a black light bar and made drinks that glow in a black light. Tonic water glows well under a black light because of the quinine in it, so I made “Gin & Bubonic” and tonic water ice cubes. I also had “Dr. Rotten’s Ultimate Embalming Fluid” (Tampico blueberry juice and tonic water) and Toxic Waste (Mountain Dew). Our guests loved it…but were scared to walk past the haunt that hovered over the bar (me).

You have to be a big movie buff to understand most of these T-shirts, but the Last Exit to Nowhere website has some excellent designs of your favorite flicks. Haven’t you always wanted a T-shirt from the Nostromo, Shawshank State Prison or the lovely Amity Island? I am a bit partial to the M41A Pulse Rifle tee myself.

Last night I went all giggly and cuddly over the Organic Cotton Joobles Collection from Fair Indigo. I love the giraffe sweater with the little green horns. I don’t have children, but I want one of the little stuffed animals to sit next to my computer and smile at me all day.

Yesterday I stopped by the fun and funky clothing exchange and antique shop, Junkee, on S. Virginia Street. It’s such a great place to shop, it’s very burlesque, full of colorful drapes, tassles, painting and poufy chairs. I really hope that Reno decides to block off this part of Virginia and make it the “funk neighborhood” with all the cool murals, tattoo parlors, artsy shops and restaurants. They could delineate the hood with a recycled bicycle sculpture like I saw at Burning Man 2007.

Over a thousand people were quite taken with last night’s performances at the Artown opening. The March Fourth Band and the Flexion dancers have a high-tech but ragged style that seems to fit Reno very well.

I have been perusing the thrift stores on the lookout for kitschy camp t-shirts for the summer. They are in short supply. I did find this website that sells great rock t-shirts and ran into this yummy yellow number worn by the wonderful Debbie Harry.

I hope to disappear in the garden with this pretty empire waist dress that I got a few weeks ago. There were not enough tulips this spring, so I need them on my clothes.

I am really enjoying the design and pattern of this shirt. It fits like a dream and has the Asian style that I adore. Too bad it is from one of my least favorite stores, the hideous Ross Dress for Less.
