I took a wire jewelry class and made a messy little bird’s nest pin with beads for eggs. The class and even my professor gushed over it so much that I have decided to make them for Christmas and birthday gifts. I did one for my friend Heather for her birthday with a few eggs and a baby bunny.

I would feel bad wiping my muddy shoes off on this gorgeous door mat featuring my favorite little birds. This mat comes from one of my favorite catalogs, Acacia (A sheltering tree and a source of healing materials and essential oils. Isn’t that beautiful?) which sells natural handmade products for the home and body.

Here is a lovely pink bouquet from AfricanKelli and her motley troupe of blogging friends who have been making my Friday more fun. We all seem to be sharing a brain, since our posts are spookily similar.
I am always inspired by women who don’t go with the flow and branch out on their own lovely trees of life…okay, enough poetry for today.

My mom found this box of chocolate with my name written all over it. How apropos! I thought the logo and the package design was pretty and reminded me of the Tom Waits song, “Chocolate Jesus”. Now, if only someone like Tom would write a song about me…

I remember my childhood being filled with the lovely design of the typical Danish mailbox. I even had a cardboard one as a toy. EveryDay Design celebrates the experience of common design all over the world. I love the idea that you do not have to a design background or be a whiz at Photoshop to really enjoy the everyday beauty that is all around us. I try to think of a world without design and it would be pretty dull.

I recently went a little ga-ga over this elegant vintage bedding from West Elm. Lately I have been looking at doing some designs (Etsy banners, polymer jewelry) using birds and simple black and white sketches. Lucky little West Elm has beaten me to the punch, but has also given me some ideas…

…which is beautifully designed, white and clean. However, I will have to stop getting my green tea latte in it and get it in a “here” cup instead. The ubiquitous Starbucks cup is only made of 10% consumer waste, but cannot be recycled because of the plastic lining. Beautiful design to catch the eye and soothe the soul is not enough anymore, designers are now thinking differently on how to design for the future, rather than for 15 minutes of caffeine indulgence.

I came up with some lovely, little word clouds of my all-time favorite places in the world using Wordle, I had a hard time deciding which one I liked best, so I chose two of them. You will notice that Lake and Mountain locations seem to be the most popular on my list. Thanks to cool hunter for the link.

The Cibo Naturals sausage ravioli from Costco is some of the tastiest, lightest and most beautiful pasta I have ever had. Like most bland ravioli, they don’t need any sauce. I just mix up some garlic, olive oil and italian parsley and add it to the hot pasta. Every person who has seen me eating it, has commented on the heavenly smell. Lunch. Que bella!
